We Never Would Have Done It Without YOU

EAA disenfranchised every member. VEA is stepping in because of our voices.

David Was Disqualified

As you may know, the night before the election, David Paladin-Fernandez was disqualified. When he was notified of campaign “violations,” he was also informed that an investigation had been concluded. An investigation that, strangely, did not include him. Due process and democracy was subverted. But that wasn’t the worst part.

More importantly, it yet again silenced EAA members. All of you who stuck with us every step of the way.

You Fought For Us

We received so much support, both in private and in public and we want to sincerely thank each and every one of you. Truly, we could have reached this outcome without all of you. Since the results of a fair election could not be demonstrated, the moment we all stood together against the injustice for every dues paying member made it clear: we are stronger together.

Our collective action is exactly what we sought out to achieve when we started our campaign. We wanted a union that fought for members, both in leadership and in member advocacy. Every email and word of support for us demonstrated in real time what can be accomplished when that vision becomes reality.

We intend to return the favor once the results are released from the free and fair election we all deserved from the start. We could not have gotten here without you or without the direct response and action from the VEA. We want to thank the VEA for ensuring that democracy can go on unbidden and that the will of membership can finally be enabled at EAA. Change is coming, and it is all because we fought together. Thank you RUNners and VEA, your support means everything and we hope to live up to your highest expectations.

Now We Will Fight For YOU

An election is coming, though we don’t know when yet. We hope it is soon, and we are ready to hit the ground RUNning. ACPS is facing a lot of challenges, but we intend to face them together so educators never have to feel alone.

If you are not signed up for our emails or following our socials, we recommend you start there. As soon as we have news, we will send updates about the election. You may also see us in person; we are still out there on the ground, spreading the word and building our collective power.

What Comes Next

We didn't start this movement just to back down when the race got uncomfortable. In fact, this issue of due process proves exactly why a Responsive Union is needed Now. We are not going anywhere. We are staying organized, vocal, and ready.

When the timeline for the new election is set, we will need every single one of you. We will need your energy, your voices, and your votes to finish what we started. They tried to make decisions for us behind closed doors, but the future of the EAA belongs to all of us.

We will continue to fight together.
